Northumberland County is preparing to welcome approximately 800 members of the Canadian Armed Forces for a planned emergency training exercise taking place on April 25–27, 2025.
Part of the military training will take place in the West Ganaraska Forest, where the Ganaraska Region Conservation Authority (GRCA) will be closing a section of the West Forest from April 25–27. For the safety of both Forest users and the participants in the training exercise, the Ganaraska Forest Trails Map will include the closed area that is included as a graphic with this post.
Parking Lot P2 will be shared during the exercise, while soldiers with the training group will be posted at intersections to redirect users throughout the exercise. Forest users can park at P2 but are asked to head east from Forest marker WF15 to avoid the training area throughout the training period. Parking Lot P7 will be completely closed to the public throughout the training period.
Soldiers will not be armed but military personnel and vehicles will be visible in the local area. For safety, public observation of training is not permitted. Please do not enter the training area indicated on the Ganaraska Forest Trails Map during training.
